1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is an excellent option for those looking for a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dust bin when it is full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris off hard floors and carpets, and they're very adept in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean smart robot efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is low, it returns to its docking station, automatically emptying its trash into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes three hours to charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line, and it comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and -- the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or through the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin, which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the best robot vacuum for tile floors on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to collect large dust and crumbs. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.

This model also has an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments as well as a clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited running time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a common battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. It's enough time to clean a typical-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second time usually works). That's not to say this model doesn't have its advantages It's lighter and more mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is a basic model that's an excellent option for those who don't want to invest too much money on a robot. It's capable of sucking up all kinds of debris in our tests, and often passes over the same areas several times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently runs out of battery power before making it back to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost and has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better navigate itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges faster.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are one of the top makers of self-cleaning robot vacuums vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app provides a range of customization options for your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to navigate and use, just like other Samsung devices.

In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we tested, which might be a deal-breaker for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that can be accessed via the app, and you can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station.
