How to Replace an audi key replacement cost uk G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video, Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a message to the ECU via an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located on the edge of transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can trigger spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails the ECU will show an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync and could indicate the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper timing chain. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It is a little tricky to test as there are various pins on the connector, and they all have different functions. The most effective method to test it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read around 1000 ohms when the sensor is at full operation. If you are having problems with this component, look for evidence of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll i had a big cut in power as if the engine was running out of gas or injectors are not firing anymore. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, three were soaked in gasoline, and the fourth was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline pop out, but the 4th stays shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 I get zero ohm. I'm assuming the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it runs fine with the G28 plugged in. However, the intermittent misfire problem continues to occur at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c, even if I unplug it. Also, i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 when i rev the engine.

I'm not certain what to do, i believe that i've completely ruled out all other possibilities. I'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender, and Audi Etron Key (Autolocksmith87780.Blogcudinti.Com) both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find a spare in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them - just put your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing upwards). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines must be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of fuel injectors, etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you encounter a problem with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will show the codes that could trigger an engine shutdown.

The signs of a failed G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or misfiring when in gear. It is possible that the sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you encounter any of these signs. They're inexpensive and audi tt replacement key easy to locate, especially in the case of an Bosch model like ours. If you prefer, GM's version of this component is an option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a variety of issues within your vehicle. It's a vital component of the audi spare key replacement's transmission as it sends information to the ECU about how the car's crankshaft is spinning. This sensor could cause the transmission to fail and other components in the car to be affected.

BMW-2020-New.pngThe G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It sends signals via gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to control the flow of fuel and boost and also timig. It also relays it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer, between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. There should be an average resistance of 1000 ohms between these two points. This part is common across the audi key 80-100-200-RS2 range, beginning with the 1985 MC and up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 DU You may also find some good ones in wrecking yards.
