The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and automatic vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum cleaners best uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they are.

If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also gives access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
