Both robots are proficient at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and are able to navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other top 5 robot vacuum-rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. In our testing, the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and sweep a specific space. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected, we were able to give the i7+ voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom."
